The Thrill of Love: Community, Compassion and Conversation

The Power of Theatre in Our Community

Theatre is more than a stage—it is a celebration of unity and an opportunity for our community to come together. Through sharing important stories, forging connections, and supporting one another both on and off stage, we create a space for meaningful interaction and collective growth.

Our next production, The Thrill of Love, written by Amanda Whittington and directed by Geraldine Broderick, brings to life the true story of Ruth Ellis. The play delves into the theme of hidden abuse, inviting audiences to reflect on the realities faced by many.   Sadly, the story of Ruth is set in the 1950's, but the story is just as relevant today, seventy years later.

The cast and crew of The Thrill of Love are proud to support the Love Grace Handbag Appeal—a remarkable charity established in memory of Grace Millane. By donating handbags filled with essential items for women experiencing hardship, we hope to make a difference. These contributions serve as a reminder that even a simple handbag filled with toiletries and necessities can convey a message that someone genuinely cares.

Through sharing Ruth Ellis’s compelling story, everyone involved at 16th Ave Theatre aims to spark dialogue, raise awareness, and foster kindness and action within our community.

Theatre is not just entertainment—it is a catalyst for connection, challenge, and positive change.
