1936 - 2026 Ninety years of Playing a Part
Celebrating Ninety Years of Theatrical Excellence
From 1936 to 2026 – that is ninety years of playing a part— igniting the stage with passion and creativity through comedy, drama, true stories, British farce, homegrown Kiwi plays. From our beginnings as Tauranga Repertory Society to our evolution into 16th Ave Theatre our enthusiasm and comittment is unchanged.
This year marks a truly special milestone—our 90th birthday. As part of our 90th anniversary year, we have a variety of productions planned to showcase the diversity and talent of our theatre community— In March the musical Tick, Tick… BOOM; In May we bring you The Thrill of Love (based on the true story of Ruth Ellis), and Shakespeare in Love in August.
During our celebration weekend in September, we will be hosting a series of events that honour our past, recognise the contributions of countless performers, directors, and supporters, and look forward to the future.
Looking Ahead
We are inviting former members, theatre lovers, and the local community to reconnect, share memories, and help us build new ones. It is a time to reflect on the legacy that has been created and to inspire the next generation of theatre enthusiasts. We celebrate everyone who has shaped our legacy—and invite new members to join us in creating the next chapter.
The celebration is not just about looking back—it is about embracing the present and shaping the future. Be a part of our festivities and make history with us.
