The Theatre and individual facilities are available for hire between shows. With a 6.5 metres wide by 6 metres deep stage, the Sixteenth Avenue Theatre is increasingly being seen as a desirable venue for touring entertainers. Below are some features of the theatre and rooms that are available to hire.
The air-conditioned auditorium has a seating capacity of 150 and is accessible for wheelchairs. It provides a comfortable yet intimate setting for the cast and audience. The seating plan is as shown. If you have any enquiries regarding seating requirements please contact us.
The Sparrow’s Wing
The Sparrow’s Wing is an annexe area that is accessed from the Green Room. It is regularly used as a meeting room, as additional changing room facilities (it has direct access to backstage) and as the Supper Room for larger social gatherings in the Green Room. The Sparrows Wing also has separate access from the Kitchen.
The Green Room & Bar
The social hub of the 16th Avenue Theatre is the Green Room Lounge and Bar with both bar and kitchen facilities. This comfortable lounge is used for hosting patrons for drinks and snacks prior to shows, during intermission and post show.
The Green Room is also regularly used by the society membership for social events, as the venue for committee meetings and AGMs. The Green Room is suitable for private hires as a venue for AGMs & other meetings, Social Gatherings, Team Building days.
In concert with the Sparrows Wing and depending on how much furnishing is desired the Green Room can comfortably accommodate up to 70 people.
Our sale of liquor license permits the sale of liquor only in conjunction with entertainment events. At all other times a special licence is required as a charge to the hirer.
Recently refurbished, the cast dressing room facility provides a light spacious environment complete with a lounge and bathroom facilities (including a shower).
Workshops & Stage Facilities
The backstage workshop area is the starting point for the creation of so many of the realistic illusions which have set the scene for audiences over many years.
Extension and upgrading of the flytower is completed above the 6.5 metres wide by 6 metres deep stage. The upgrading of the high level working area improves safety and convenience and complies with all the code requirements. We have also added a range of new data and tele-communications systems and new rigging and lighting bars.
