6 - 14 March 2026 - An Unseasonable Fall of Snow

Do you like puzzles?
An Unseasonable Fall of Snow is a tense, psychological thriller by acclaimed NZ playwright Gary Henderson.
A bewildered young man is questioned by a ruthless interrogator, who circles like a predator, forcing him closer and closer to an awful admission.
A compelling investigation of truth, consequences, and the ultimate value of human life.
This production reflects on16th Ave Theatre's ongoing dedication to presenting distinguished works from New Zealand theatre and is the second of Henderson’s work we have done – the first being Skin Tight back in 2014.
We are pleased to introduce Ben Cain in his directorial debut. Ben, most recently appearing in Accomplice after a 20-year break from performing, previously received recognition as Outstanding Male Actor for his role as Arthur in the Butterfly Creek production of An Unseasonable Fall of Snow in June 2005. It is exciting to watch his progression from actor to director.
This production encourages audiences to thoughtfully engage with relevant social issues through compelling storytelling. Ben's direction promises a noteworthy experience for both long-standing admirers of Henderson’s plays and those new to his repertoire.
In keeping with our support for the local community, a portion of door sales will be donated to a local men’s support group.
